| The English Language Centre (ELC) is committed to providing a broad range of quality English language courses to meet the needs of its students. Members of our faculty are continuously involved in developing course syllabi, creating EFL instructional packages and designing assessment materials that reflect the language requirements of our student population and provide a stimulating and enriching learning experience.
In addition to the On-line English Orientation Programme run by the ELC, we are responsible for teaching all credit-bearing post-orientation English language courses which are an integral part of the degree programmes offered by the eight colleges in the University. The number of students taking these credit-bearing courses every semester is around 10000. This indicates the central role the ELC plays in the University.
Our three Information Technology Assisted Learning (ITAL) laboratories form the backbone of our recently introduced on-line English Orientation programme. These fully networked multi-media computer laboratories with 25 computers each give Orientation students the opportunity to realize the potential of Information Technology as a learning tool. Our Centre incorporates CD-ROM and Internet based educational applications. The ELC has lately added a state-of-the-art computer laboratory with more than (100 Computers) connected to the Internet to be used primarily by the students enrolled on the on-line English Orientation Programme.
Our Learning Resource Centre offers a wide range of self-access learning materials including a comprehensive collection of extensive reading materials with student worksheets. You will find more detailed information about our courses, our learning resources and our faculty in this web site.
