The Department of Chemical Engineering was established as a separate department in October 1992. Currently, most of its academic staff are graduates of well-known international universities.

The Department offers two four-year undergraduate programs; a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Process Instrumentation & Control Engineering. Both programs are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), the recognized international accreditation commission of colleges’ and universities’ programs in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology (http://www.abet.org).

The department also offers post graduate programs; a Master of Science (M.Sc.) and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Engineering in the fields of chemical engineering and process instrumentation and control engineering. Further information about post graduate programs is available in the graduate studies brochure.

The Department is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research and community service. Each of the two programs blends flexibility, depth, breath, and hands-on-experience to prepare the students for a variety of educational and professional challenges. Graduates of both programs find employment in a variety of industries including petroleum production and refining; petrochemicals; gas processing; water desalination and treatment; metal production and processing facilities; industrial automation, control, and solutions; as well as in insurance and banking sectors.
