This program aims at preparing and qualifying physiotherapists to possess theoretical knowledge, and specialized practical skills and to be able to produce scientific research papers in order to serve their society, and to work efficiently in therapeutic and health institutions in accordance with the criteria of quality assurance and academic accreditation.

  1. Providing students with fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of physiotherapy and other allied fields so as to help them practice the profession effectively.
  2. Training students in the diagnosis and evaluation techniques of physiotherapy to enable them to diagnose the case and specify appropriate treatment course.
  3. Acquainting students with modern approaches in the treatment of sports injuries to rehabilitate players to return to the sport.
  4. Combining theory with practice in the application of effective physiotherapeutic treatment of patients.
  5. Adhering to the ethics and moral values of the profession of physiotherapy.
  6. Maintaining appropriate conduct and communication with the patient, their relatives and others in the therapy team.
  7. Using communication skills and cooperation effectively.
  8. Equipping students with research skills to help them solve problems they might face in the field of physiotherapy.
  9. Teaching students modern approaches in designing awareness programs to highlight the importance of physiotherapy in the society.
  10. Instilling the desire for continuous and effective development and training to upgrade and enhance the graduate’s professional and scientific knowledge.

The graduate of Physiotherapy in the University of Bahrain should be able to:

  • Revise medical records and check various bodily systems (nervous, muscular, skeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory) to decide the need for physiotherapy.
  • Study different body systems by acquiring case history, the performance of the system, select and apply the appropriate tests and measurements related to the age group.
  • Evaluate check-up findings (history, reviewing applications, tests and procedures) to decide on the appropriate clinical treatments for patients.
  • Specify the best performance level expected, and decide the duration required to reach that performance level, and identify possible obstacles that may affect the patient/client.
  • Offer necessary interventions to achieve aspired results, including therapy trainings, manual therapy techniques, electro-treatment methods, hydrotherapy and aerobic removal techniques.
  • Do research experiments to evaluate the current practices and find innovative physiotherapy interventions, based on evidence, so as to provide the highest quality levels of healthcare.
  • Adhere to fundamental values and codes of ethics in physiotherapy, and participate in the planning and developing the services the society needs.
