The Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy program is a four and a half academic year (nine semesters) with a total of 143 credits. The Pharmacy program is designed to educate and develop students to become knowledgeable, skillful and principled pharmacists who contribute to the advancement of pharmaceutical education, pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy practice leading to the enhancement of community health and the patient’s quality of life.

The goal of the Pharmacy Program is to graduate pharmacists who:

  1. Have the necessary knowledge, skills and values in all pharmaceutical fields.
  2. Are competent to enter a future career or postgraduate studies in pharmacy.
  3. Demonstrate professional responsibilities according to legal, ethical and professional standards of practice.
  4. Contribute to the development of the profession.
  5. Employ lifelong learning, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

The Pharmacy Program graduate will be able to:

  1. Integrate knowledge, skills and values to provide patient centered care.
  2. Adhere to the legal requirements of the Kingdom of Bahrain and apply professional code of ethics throughout the practice.
  3. Apply research tools to evaluate up-to date information related to drugs and health services and implement necessary changes.
  4. Contribute to patient care and wellbeing by providing education to facilitate improvement and promotion of health.
  5. Utilize information technology to enhance pharmaceutical practice.
  6. Decide on suitable drug distribution procedures to ascertain safety, accuracy and quality of supplied drugs.
  7. Apply management and leadership principles to enhance patient care and inter/intra-professional relationships with proper utilization of resources.
  8. Communicate the value of professional roles in society and have the potential to improve it.
  9. Be proactive in assessing self-learning needs and engage actively in promoting intellectual growth and continued professional and personal development.
  10. Utilize principles of critical thinking in problem solving to make informed and rational decisions.
  11. Participate actively in continuous quality improvement processes.
