Workshops & Training

  • Faculty Training Workshops

The Center organizes regular workshops for all staff members to encourage staff to use e-learning as a new mode of learning in their courses. The workshops are held at the beginning of each semester at various intervals to allow as many staff as possible to join them. All new staff who join UOB are also familiarized with the e-learning mode and are encouraged to open at least one course to get involved in the process of teaching through e-learning. Staff are allocated a member of the development and designer teams to assist them in offering and developing their courses.

The Center, since its establishment, has organized more than 22 training workshops for all staff in various colleges. The content of each workshop include theoretical information on using the learning management system whether Blackboard or Moodle and practical training for two sessions and more if needed to ensure that staff can work independently. They are also provided with a video tutorial on using the Bb LMS with a step by step information on the system.

  • Student Training Workshops
The Center trains students on using the LMS and provides them with video tutorial on Blackboard. The student workshops are held regularly at the beginning of each semester and upon any request from staff to train their students. Students are trained as users on various topics and mainly on submitting their assignments, e-testing, viewing their grades, using communication tools such as email, chat sessions, white board etc.

  • Specialized Workshops
The Center believes that training is a major part of its strategy and works to disseminate e-culture. Therefore, the Center tries to organize specialized workshops on regular basis to update staff and teachers from various sectors in Bahrain on the latest developments in the field of e-learning. In addition, the Center invites corporates and specialized companies I n e-learning to present their latest developments and technologies to our staff and various concerned people in the field. It also organizes training sessions and specialized workshops alongside these events to train the audience on using such technologies. In addition, the Center holds specialized workshops during its international conference held bi-annually.
