The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr Ibrahim Janahi, received in his office at Sakhir Campus, the President of Tangee Engineering Company from Japan Mr Paul Noritaka Tange and Yasuhiro Ishino, Executive Officer for the company. The Japanese company originally designed the University Campus in Sakhir during the 1980s.
The University is planning to maintain a unified architectural design and façade for the University. This plan will be implemented when the College of Engineering and the Deanship of Scientific Research, and the College of Applied Sciences buildings as well as other premises are moved to from Isa Town to Sakhir to maintain the unique design that characterize the university buildings.
The President of the University signed the agreement with Tange representatives. The agreement includes the deign of the new buildings in Sakhir and to remodel some of the deigns to suit the whole structure in collaboration with the Engineering Office at the University. The study and the whole plan will be presented within the next 10 months.
It is worth mentioning that the Engineering Consultative Office at the University will implement this unique work and architecture at the university. This is an added value for the University to promote localized expertise and reduce costs.
Tange President expressed his pleasure to see such a huge development and extension of the university premises. His father and Mr. Ishino, the current executive president made the original architectural designs for the university buildings in 1980s
He stated that it is a suitable time for the company and the University to re-evaluate and add some touches for the premises to be unified in structure and outlook.
It should be mentioned that Tange Engineering is one of the prominent consultancy companies in the world and Kenzo Tange was a famous designer in the world. He designed many world landmarks in various cities in the world.
