Lab management to be examined in UoB workshop

 

SAKHIR, OCT 2, 2007 – The important subject of chemical laboratory safety and laboratory design for safety will be brought up in a workshop to be held by the University of Bahrain (UoB)’s Continuing Scientific Education Programme, from 27th to 28th November 2007. Conducted by two UoB professors of organic chemistry, Dr Mohammed Al-Arab and Dr Ahmed Taha, the workshop entitled “Management Laboratory Safety and Laboratory Chemical Hazards” will shed light on the protocols every worker in chemical labs must follow for an effective and safe running of the lab. “The workshop intends to deliver hands-on training on lab safety management and accident prevention by previous planning and lab organization and design,” said Dr Said Al-Alawi director of the Continuing Scientific Education Programme. The topics to be addressed in the workshop include: the lab’s good practice regulations and codes, lab’s organization and safety equipments, and proper management and disposal of hazardous chemicals. The workshop is aimed for those working in university teaching and research labs as well as labs of colleges, schools, industries, Civil Defence departments, Bahrain Defence Force, health and environmental affairs, agriculture and municipal affairs.
