Objectives

 


The major objectives of the Information Research Center  are to encourage, organize, and coordinate applied research and studies related to the development of Information Technology.

The Main activities include:

1. Unite theory with practice by proportioning a cooperative dialogue between researchers, the business community, and policy makers.
2. Develop research system by involving a wide range of participants into a research system to better use available human resources and research infrastructure in Bahrain.
3. Build interdisciplinary research teams to bridge the full range of University research talents to bear critical problems from government and industry.
4. Contractual applied research in the Information Technology area in collaboration with business, industry, and government organizations in Bahrain and other Gulf States.
5. Facilitate transfer of Information Technology and applications between departments and colleges at the University of Bahrain and various industries in Bahrain and in the GCC region.
6. Encourage research partners and collaboration to maximize cooperation among institutions and disciplines.
7. Make available an interdisciplinary research environment bringing together scientists and computer professionals to explore innovative use of computing technology.
8. Activate the best available scientific expertise including the private sector and governmental organizations for work on specific high-priority projects in accordance with national strategy.
9. Assist in the enhancement of academic curricula through improved communication between academia and business.
10 Identify new opportunities for advances in Information Technology by tracking industry’s changing needs and priorities.
11. Disseminate the latest technology and knowledge through organization and coordination of conferences, workshops, and symposia related to various Information Technology issues.
