Three Law Professors at UOB Publish Book on Human Rights and Their Applications in the Kingdom

The College of Law at the University of Bahrain has released the first edition of “Human Rights and Their Applications in the Kingdom of Bahrain,” a comprehensive study that explains the concepts, terminology, principles, and rules of human rights, both locally and internationally.

The book was authored by Dr. Marwan Mohammed ALModers, Associate Professor of Public Law, Dr. Bader Mohamed Adel, Associate Professor of Public Law, and Dr. Wafa Yaqoob Janahi, Associate Professor of Private Law. It addresses all aspects of Bahraini legislation and human rights in an integrated and accessible manner.

Spanning 304 pages across four chapters, the book covers all categories of human rights since 1948, emphasizing their philosophical and legal foundations, sources, and application. Locally, it draws on the National Action Charter, the Bahraini Constitution, and relevant laws. The book also highlights Bahrain’s engagement with the international human rights system, including the signing and ratification of related treaties.

Key topics include the right to life, prohibition of torture, prohibition of slavery, personal liberty and security, alternative penalties, privacy, freedom of movement, freedom of thought, conscience and religion, freedom of expression, property rights, equality and non-discrimination, electoral rights, as well as cultural, environmental, and other rights.

The book has been peer-reviewed both within Bahrain and internationally and is recognized by the University of Bahrain’s Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research as a scholarly publication contributing to human rights awareness and education.
