UOB Introduces its Students to Bahrain’s Global Modul in Entrepreneurship & Innovation

Dr. Hashim Hussein, Head of the Investment and Technology Promotion Office of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in Bahrain, presented a lecture on entrepreneurship and innovation, organized by the Department of Management and Marketing at the College of Business Administration at the University of Bahrain, on Sunday (November 19, 2023).

Dr. Hussein reviewed the most prominent components of the Enterprise Development & Innovation Promotion Program “The Bahraini Model”, which includes preparation and empowerment, business consulting and technology connectivity, financial linkages, incubation (physical and virtual), and post-incubation and growth programs.

He reviewed roles played by the office in Bahrain, in supporting micro, small and medium enterprises, and the advisory and guidance services it provides to entrepreneurs in Bahrain and it contribution to job creation opportunities. He also praised the capabilities of Bahraini youth to innovate and create, saying: “The Kingdom of Bahrain is the first Arab country to develop a curriculum for entrepreneurship and innovation, and this curriculum is currently being applied in 60 schools in the Kingdom.”

Several beneficiaries of the Investment and Technology Promotion Office shared their experiences in entrepreneurship with the students. Concluding the event, Dr. Hussein invited the students to explore various opportunities and participate in entrepreneurship and innovation initiatives, such as the Arab Rally Entrepreneurship Competition, the Global Entrepreneurs Forum, and others.
