Historic Event Puts Bahrain on the Space Map and Expands Research Horizons for Its Scientists Dr. Ansari: Al Munther Satellite Launch Reflects Vision for Advancing Future Science

Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain and member of the Board of Directors of the National Space Science Agency (NSSA) stated that the launch of Bahrain’s first satellite, ‘Al Munther,’ marks the Kingdom’s entry into the world of space and opens up new opportunities for groundbreaking research using the satellite’s data, capabilities, and the changes it monitors.
Dr. Al Ansari highlighted that this historic event reflects Bahrain’s advancement in the field of space and underscores its strong commitment to staying at the forefront of scientific and technological progress. He emphasized that the Al Munther satellite, fully designed and developed in Bahrain, is the first of its kind in the region to use artificial intelligence techniques for analyzing space images aboard a satellite of this size.
He emphasized that the successful launch of the satellite reflects the vision and aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and Prime Minister, may Allah protect him. Dr. Al Ansari also acknowledged the significant support the project received from His Highness General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor, Royal Guard Commander, and Secretary General of the Supreme Defence Council, which helped promote investment in young Bahraini talents, enabled them to achieve this milestone, and encouraged the exchange of expertise and technologies in the fields of future and advanced sciences.
The President of the University of Bahrain praised the exceptional efforts of the NSSA, in collaboration with Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), in achieving this milestone. He highlighted that this achievement marks a significant step in Bahrain’s journey toward scientific and technical excellence. He added that it inspires a sense of pride among the youth, encouraging them to explore the fields of satellite design, space science, research, and exploration. Furthermore, it serves as a source of pride for them to contribute to Bahrain’s progress in reaching the ranks of advanced countries in space science and technology. He also expressed pride in the fact that the majority of the engineers at the National Space Science Agency are graduates of the University of Bahrain.
