Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma Chairs UOB Board of Trustees Meeting

Opening the meeting, His Excellency the Minister of Education—on behalf of the Board of Trustees and the University’s affiliates—expressed deep gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the University’s Supreme President, and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for their unwavering support and dedication to the University of Bahrain. He reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to developing and implementing policies and strategies that align with national priorities, adhering to international best practices and standards.
The Board of Trustees also extended its appreciation to the Chairman and members of the previous Board, commending the University of Bahrain’s accomplishments. His Excellency the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board stressed the importance of tracking graduates’ career paths, similar to reports from private universities, to identify employment rates, their professional locations, and potential recruitment as members of the university’s advisory boards. He directed those findings be reported to the Board of Trustees.
During the meeting, Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of UOB, presented an overview of the institution’s recent progress, highlighting key academic and developmental advancements. He also submitted the university’s annual reports for 2022 and 2023, which provided a comprehensive evaluation of its academic, administrative, and financial performance. The reports detailed enrollment statistics, identified institutional challenges and opportunities, and outlined partnerships and collaborative projects with international universities and organizations. Following the presentation, the Board officially approved both reports.
The Board approved the University’s and Bahrain Teachers College’s final accounts for 2021-2023 following its review and endorsement of the external auditor’s reports.
Additionally, the Board ratified several partnership agreements and memoranda of understanding between the University of Bahrain and various local, regional, and international institutions.
In its organizational decisions, the Board reconstituted its internal committees, appointing: Dr. Khalid Abdullah Taqi as Chair of the Audit and Finance Committee, and Dr. Ebrahim Al-Sayed Jamal Al-Hashemi as Chair of the Academic Committee.
