The WHO Office in Bahrain and the University of Bahrain in an Event for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The World Health Organization (WHO) Office in Bahrain, in collaboration with the University of Bahrain, organized an event on October 31, 2024, to raise community awareness about the importance of early screening and diagnosis of breast cancer.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Tasneem Atatrah, WHO Representative in Bahrain, and Dr. Leena Khonji, Dean of the College of Health and Sport Sciences at the University of Bahrain. The event featured nine different interactive stations and welcomed the participation of over 50 members of the general public.
At the WHO Bahrain Office’s interactive station, under the theme “No one should face breast cancer alone,” attendees were encouraged to add pink ribbons and motivational messages to a large board as a sign of solidarity and support. The station also included educational resources and a QR code linking to the WHO Global Breast Cancer Initiative website.
Students from the University of Bahrain participated in various interactive stations, providing information on breast cancer risk factors, symptoms, treatment plans, and recommendations for early detection.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a global campaign held every October to raise awareness and promote best practices among the public, healthcare stakeholders, and policymakers, who play a vital role in reducing mortality rates and improving quality of life.
