University of Bahrain Launches Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Academic Program

The University of Bahrain (UoB), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), launched its SDGs Academic Program, the first of its kind in regional universities, on Wednesday, September 25, 2024.
The program integrates Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into English language courses, along with two specialized courses in environmental science and law. The launch event was attended by Dr. Mohammed Redha Qader, Vice President for Academic Programs and Graduate Studies, and Ms. Jehan Al-Murbati, Development Program Officer at UNDP.
The English language courses will dedicate 20% of their content to SDGs, mandatory for all first-year students. Upon completion, students will receive a dual certification from both the University of Bahrain and UNDP.
This initiative follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between UOB and UNDP, reinforcing Bahrain’s commitment to innovation-driven sustainable development.
