“Criminal Detection and Forensic Science” Organizes Awareness Event on Drug Abuse in Cooperation with UOB

As part of the awareness efforts carried out by the Criminal Media Division at the General Directorate of Criminal Detection and Forensic Science to promote the principle of community partnership and engage all civil society institutions as active partners in combating the scourge of drugs and protecting society from its dangers, the Division organized an awareness event in cooperation with the University of Bahrain under the title: “Together Towards a Drug-Free Society.”

This event is part of the Ministry of Interior’s efforts to raise youth awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, contributing to the development of an informed generation that understands the risks and harms drugs pose to individuals and society.

A group of experts from various fields participated in the event. Dr. Rashed Abdulrahman Alaseeri, Associate Professor in the Department of Arabic Language and Islamic Studies at the College of Arts, addressed the social and religious aspects of educating youth on the dangers of drugs. Dr. Ehab Rakha, Consultant Psychiatrist and Head of the Addiction Treatment Unit at the Psychiatric Hospital, spoke about the health services provided by the Kingdom to those seeking addiction recovery. Additionally, specialists from the General Directorate of Criminal Detection and Forensic Science presented on anti-drug efforts, types of narcotics, and psychoactive substances.

The event also featured an awareness exhibition and student competitions, reinforcing educational and criminal knowledge through interactive methods, which enhanced participation and effectively spread awareness.

At the end of the event, Dr. Fatima Mohamed Al-Maliki, Dean of Student Affairs, honored the lecturers.

The Criminal Media Division reaffirmed its commitment to delivering lectures and organizing awareness exhibitions on drug abuse for all segments of society. It encouraged communication via WhatsApp (17715280) and stressed the importance of cooperating with security authorities by reporting any information related to drug trafficking or promotion through the Hotline (996), the emergency operations room (999), or via e-mail (996@interior.gov.bh). All reports will be handled with strict confidentiality.
