His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad witnesses the signing of a cooperation agreement between the University of Bahrain and the General Sports Authority
His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, witnessed the signing of a cooperation memorandum between the University of Bahrain and the General Sports Authority on Monday. Under this memorandum, the university will provide support to the Khalid bin Hamad Seat for the Golden Generation initiative.
The cooperation memorandum was signed on behalf of the University of Bahrain by its President, Dr. Jawaher bint Shaheen Al-Mudhahki, and on behalf of the General Sports Authority by its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar.
On this occasion, His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa emphasized the endeavor to create a suitable environment for distinguished athletes to achieve academic attainment alongside their continued sports contributions. His Highness expressed his anticipation for the role and impact of the cooperation memorandum, which he described as being set to become one of the pillars elevating the sports scene in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This is particularly significant as it will enable a number of individuals distinguished in various sporting fields to enroll at the university, thereby enhancing athletic talents and skills with academic aspects, which enriches the performance and presence of the athlete in the field.
For her part, the President of the University of Bahrain stated: “We are honored today by the presence of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa at this important event. His Highness’s presence adds broad dimensions to the cooperation memorandum and confirms our commitment at the University of Bahrain to what was signed today. The university will dedicate all its expertise to serving outstanding student-athletes and help them elevate their academic and technical levels, so they form a new cornerstone in the sports sector, which the University of Bahrain initiated as the first scientific specialization in the GCC region. And here it is, continuing to supply this sector with distinguished athletes across various sports and administrative levels.”
The Chief Executive Officer of the Authority also stated: “The cooperation memorandum will bring about a qualitative shift in preparing generations of Bahraini athletes who aspire to practice sports, professionalize them, and advance them into new domains,” expressing his pride in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa at this event. He added that cooperation with the University of Bahrain, as the national university, sets the graduates of the Bachelor of Sports program on the right path.
