The Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership at the University of Bahrain (UOB) hosted a workshop titled “Integrating Multisensory Learning in Higher Education”  equipping academics with innovative strategies to engage students through multiple senses.

Led by Dr. Hana Mohammed Aljowder, Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture and Interior Design who explored how multisensory techniques can improve information retention and student interaction. Key topics included: the science behind multisensory learning and its impact on comprehension, practical strategies for incorporating visual, auditory, tactile, kinesthetic, and even olfactory elements into course design, and hands-on activities demonstrating how to create immersive, sensory-rich learning experiences.

Multisensory learning, defined as the integration of multiple sensory stimuli to optimize teaching, offers a dynamic approach to modern education. The workshop provided faculty with tools to design more interactive and inclusive classrooms, catering to diverse learning styles.
