University of Bahrain Hosts International Experts at Information Security Forum Today

Today (Wednesday), the University of Bahrain is hosting a group of international experts and specialists in the field of information security at a forum titled “Information Security: Challenges, Threats, and Strategies,” organized by the College of Information Technology. The event is being held at the university’s Sakhir campus under the patronage of the University President, Professor Dr. Riyad Yousif Hamzah.

The forum aims to raise awareness among decision-makers, IT specialists, researchers, and postgraduate students by highlighting emerging threats across digital networks. It also seeks to equip participants with vital knowledge and foster the exchange of expertise. The Department of Information Systems at the college is committed to making this forum a prominent platform for collaboration and knowledge-sharing between stakeholders from both the public and private sectors in Bahrain.

Several distinguished speakers are participating in the forum, including:

  • Ong Leonard, Chairman of ISACA Bahrain,

  • Akalesh Tuteja, Consultant at KPMG Europe, Middle East, and Africa,

  • Scott Manson, Chief Operations and Marketing Officer for Information Security Products at Cisco Systems.

In addition, the forum will feature contributions from both Bahraini and international speakers, including:

  • Ahmed Al-Doseri, Acting Head of the Information Security Department at the Central Informatics Organization,

  • Ahmed Al-Balooshi, Senior Vice President and CIO at Al Baraka Banking Group,

  • Bader Kamal, Chairman of Stride Consultancy,

  • Bertam Dorm, Software Engineer at Amazon Web Services,

  • George Sebastiao, Head of Cloud Computing at Huawei,

  • Neil McKenny, UK Cybersecurity Representative for the Gulf Region,

  • Ravi Jayasundera, CEO of Cyzpro Consulting,

  • Dr. Zufeng Zhu, Associate Professor at Shanghai University,

  • Captain Mariam Al-Za’an, from the Ministry of Interior,

  • Varun Kukreja, Information Security Consultant at BMG.

The first edition of the forum is supported by several institutions and companies, including Huawei, Kaspersky Labs, the Economic Development Board, Al Baraka Bank, Al Salam Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Kanoo Information Technology, and Oxygen for Information Security.

This significant gathering reaffirms the University of Bahrain’s commitment to addressing the most pressing issues in cybersecurity and its role in fostering innovation, collaboration, and knowledge in the Kingdom and beyond.
