On Wednesday, September 21, 2016, the President of the University of Bahrain, Professor Dr. Riyad Yousif Hamzah, and the Commander of King Hamad University Hospital, Major General Dr. Salman bin Atiyatallah Al Khalifa, signed a cooperation agreement between the two institutions.
The agreement includes the launch of a new diploma program tailored for the hospital, titled “Patient Care Assistant Diploma.” The two-year program spans four academic semesters and includes 18 courses—13 theoretical and 5 practical. Theoretical courses range from 35 to 130 hours each, while practical courses range between 200 and 640 hours. Graduates will receive a diploma from the University of Bahrain, delivered in collaboration with the medical and technical staff of King Hamad University Hospital.
The program aims to enhance the skills of hospital workers who provide indirect patient care and support doctors and nurses. It reflects the university’s commitment to addressing the needs of Bahraini society and strengthening the capabilities of the national workforce across various sectors.
It is worth noting that a joint academic-medical team from both institutions, specializing in education quality, academic accreditation, curriculum development, and higher education, was formed to design this unique and specialized diploma program.
