More than 100 male and female students at the University of Bahrain recently participated over the course of two consecutive months in the Entrepreneurship Skills Program, organized by the Business Incubator Center at the university, in collaboration with several private companies and institutions from within Bahrain and abroad.
The Director of the Business Incubator Center, Dr. Israa Ahmed Wali, said: “The program aims to contribute to preparing University of Bahrain students from all colleges for entrepreneurship and the establishment of their future private projects.”
Dr. Wali indicated that students will emerge from the program with different skills and competencies on various levels, including personal, professional, and technical aspects. She explained that the most important skills students will acquire are the ability to identify, define, and describe problems, discover innovation opportunities, segment and analyze opportunities, evaluate and define new business models, conduct quantitative and qualitative research on customers and markets, design customer journeys, understand product development frameworks, design, evaluate, and implement marketing strategies, as well as develop a deep understanding of the target demographics.
She stated that after completing the program, students will be able to choose entrepreneurship as a career option, work efficiently in a complex and dynamic environment made up of multidisciplinary teams, apply creative thinking methods to meet the needs of their clients and companies, and plan and prioritize work tasks to maximize the use of capital, human resources, time, and available resources to achieve the desired results.
A number of speakers participated in the program through several workshops, including: the Executive Director and Founder of The Nourishers, Hamad Al Saad, who presented three workshops titled: “Identifying and Selecting a Project Idea, Validating the Project Idea, and Marketing the Project.” Additionally, the co-founders of Archetype and FabLab Bahrain, Dr. Salman Al Aribi and Ali Rajai, presented a workshop titled: “Prototyping the Project.” Entrepreneur and consultant Miles O’Connor also delivered a workshop titled: “Basics of Doing Business with Companies.”

In a related context, four lectures were held for practical training students at the College of Law about entrepreneurship, with the participation of about 150 male and female students. They were trained on how to develop a commercial project idea and how to validate the idea according to targeted customers.
Dr. Wali added that the Business Incubator Center continues to attract entrepreneurs from among university students and graduates, noting the recent incubation of two projects, one of which is a mobile application related to education in general and University of Bahrain students in particular.
