Students’ International Success Highlights Their Competitiveness and the Strength of UoB’s Academic Programs

Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain, emphasized the importance of students participating in local, regional, and international activities and competitions. He explained that involvement in such activities, particularly scientific and technical competitions, provides students with practical experience and knowledge that cannot be fully acquired in the classroom.

Dr. Al-Ansari made these remarks during a meeting with students from the College of Information Technology who had participated in—and won—both local and international competitions. He emphasized that such active participation boosts the University of Bahrain’s reputation, positioning it among the most dynamic and prestigious institutions. He added that students’ victories on international platforms also leave a positive global impression of the Kingdom of Bahrain. Furthermore, they demonstrate that UOB graduates are well-equipped to compete across a range of platforms, particularly in fields such as cybersecurity and other rapidly evolving technical disciplines.

Dr. Al-Ansari stressed that the University of Bahrain places strong emphasis on regularly updating and enhancing its academic curricula and programs. This commitment ensures alignment with the latest scientific and technological advancements, while also addressing the evolving needs of the labor market both in the Kingdom and across the region.

UOB students achieved outstanding results in various competitions, both this year and in previous years. Notably, they secured third place in the “Cyber Guards” cybersecurity hackathon, organized by the Nasser Centre for Science and Technology, the National Cyber Security Center, and the University of Bahrain, in February 2025.

In addition, UOB students ranked 116th globally out of 8,000 teams in the 2025 edition of the Hack the Box global competition, placing them in the top 17% of participants. In the 2024 edition, they ranked 186th out of 1,128 teams.

Furthermore, two UoB student teams claimed first place in the “BBK FinSec Knights Hackathon,” organized in cooperation with INJAZ Bahrain in April 2025. Additionally, a team of UOB students also took part in the Gulf Cybersecurity Forum, which was held in Qatar on January 15–16, 2025.
