UOB Explores Bahraini Gold’s History in Cultural Seminar Celebrating National Identity

A group of prominent figures participated in a seminar held by the University of Bahrain to celebrate the Bahraini identity on Sunday (May 11, 2025), under the title: “The Biography of Bahraini Gold: Cultural History and Sustainable Tourism Attraction.”
The seminar brought together Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain, along with Sarah Ahmed Buheji, CEO of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA); Dr. Dalal Ahmed Al Sherouqi, researcher in the anthropology of cultural heritage; and Mohammed Al Zain, CEO of Al Zain Jewellery. The session was moderated by Dr. Dunya Ahmed Abdullah, Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Sciences.
The seminar is part of the university’s efforts to consolidate national identity and pride in Bahraini heritage, in line with the royal directives calling for the promotion of sustainable cultural citizenship, particularly in the areas of folk culture, which is a fundamental pillar in building community awareness.
The participants presented the history of Bahraini gold as an authentic element of national culture.
An art exhibition was held featuring student paintings that celebrated the legacy of Bahraini gold and its enduring role in the nation’s cultural heritage.
