University Of Bahrain Organizes Academic Leadership Program in Collaboration with Advance HE

The Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership UTEL at the University of Bahrain organized the “Academic Leadership Program”, in cooperation with Advance HE, during the period from 16 to 19 June 2025.

The program aimed at enhancing the quality of higher education by developing academic leaders and improving institutional performance. Several academic and administrative staff members from inside and outside the university participated in the program.

The four-day program included four online workshops – delivered by members of the Advance HE – that focused on strengthening relationships, building trust, and renewing a sense of competence among leaders, in addition to providing a space for reflection on leadership roles and taking practical steps to consolidate the skills and knowledge gained, in support of achieving the university’s strategic goals.

The first session, led by senior consultant Andy Linton, discussed leadership perspectives, and explored how to align leadership purpose, values, and organizational context. The second session, presented by Dr. Charles Knight, Assistant Director, focused on collaboration, engagement, and influence to deliver change and understanding of human behavior in organizations. The third session, facilitated by senior consultant Sarah Hubbard, addressed leading change in high-performing teams. Finally, the fourth session, delivered by Prof. Mark O’Hara, also a senior consultant, covered adaptive leadership and its role in innovation and transformative practices.
