University of Bahrain Celebrates Mental Health Day with Diverse Programs and Consultations
The University of Bahrain celebrated World Mental Health Day by offering a variety of programs and consultations to raise student awareness on the importance of psychological well-being.
A number of consultants, specialists, and psychology professors at the University of Bahrain provided various consultations and guidance to educate students on the importance of mental and psychological stability in their lives. This took place through diverse programs organized by the Dean of Student Affairs in celebration of World Mental Health Day, under the title “Mental Health: A Necessity for Living,” at the university’s campus in Sakhir.
During the lectures, students learned about the impact of technology and social media on mental health, the most common psychological pressures and disorders among students, and how to confront them to achieve academic compatibility. Students also learned about the importance of nutrition for both mental and physical health. Additionally, students participated in practical applications and exercises that aid in effective studying.
The lectures were presented by: Dr. Fatima Al-Madhoob, a psychiatry consultant at Darat Al Hayat Medical Center, and Dr. Nawal Al-Amer, a mental health specialist at Salmaniya Psychiatric Hospital. Participating in providing psychological and health consultations were: Dr. Rasha Salah Eweida from the College of Health and Sport Sciences, Dr. Sabikas Al-Lehdan from the College of Science at the University of Bahrain, and the psychological specialists in the Psychological Counseling Unit of the Deanship of Student Affairs.
These programs fall within the University of Bahrain’s framework of commitment to achieving sustainability in good health and well-being and providing quality education. The world celebrates Mental Health Day on October 10th of every year.
