UOB Empowers Academics to Master the Annual Self-Assessment Report

Academics at the University of Bahrain learned about the structure of the annual self-assessment report for academic programs and the sources of evidence that support data and information-based decision-making. This took place during an interactive workshop titled: “Writing the Annual Self-Assessment Report for the Academic Program”, on Tuesday (October 21, 2025).

The workshop, presented by Shaikha Naser Alkaabi, Head of the Quality Assurance and Academic Excellence at the University of Bahrain, aimed to empower faculty members to utilize the annual self-assessment report as an effective tool for achieving continuous improvement in the teaching process and developing academic programs. It also clarified the roles and responsibilities at various levels, from the institutional level to the academic department, and outlined the workflow leading to the submission of the report in February of each academic year. Furthermore, the workshop sought to entrench a culture of evidence-based decision-making and the precise, rigorous analysis of data, in alignment with university policies and academic accreditation requirements.

Al Kaabi reviewed the reference framework for writing the annual report, covering relevant policies and procedures, the quality system adopted by the university, and extending to the annual timeline for writing the report, its structure, and the evidence used in its preparation. She also addressed the newly introduced elements in the report, including cohort analysis and utilizing the results of the course evaluation survey at the program level, alongside best practices and common errors in writing the self-assessment report for academic programs.
