UOB Explores Storytelling Techniques in Arts Lecture

The College of Arts at the University of Bahrain held a lecture on Wednesday titled “Storytelling Techniques for Sustaining Historical Texts.” The lecture was delivered by Dr. Samira Bent Alsahbi Farhat, Assistant Professor of Linguistics at the university’s Bahrain Teachers College.

Dr. Farhat reviewed storytelling techniques for children and the relationship between literary genres and history. She explained the role of literature in promoting cultural sustainability, fostering collective awareness, and preserving tangible heritage.

Attendees, including academics and students, were introduced to sixty stories authored by students from the Bahrain Teachers College. These stories collectively embody Bahrain’s cultural heritage and reflect the nation’s authentic identity. Dr. Farhat emphasized that storytelling serves as a vital bridge connecting literature, history, and education, working to preserve national identity, build sustainable awareness, and safeguard the memory of Bahrain’s heritage for future generations.

The lecture was moderated by Dr. Sharaf Mohammed Al-Mezaal, Associate Professor of Modern History in the Department of History at the University of Bahrain’s College of Arts.
