UOB Explores the Importance of Music in Visual Arts

Bahraini composer and music critic Mohammad Haddad shed light on the role of music in visual artistic production, describing it as a tool for narrating dialogue and interpreting literary and dramatic texts. He emphasized the importance of artistic dialogue between the scriptwriter and the composer to produce an integrated work of art that conveys its message to the viewer in all its dimensions and emotional, sonic impact. Haddad also highlighted the differences between musical scores for theater and those for cinema.

This discussion took place during an interactive lecture titled “Music as a Companion to the Image,” held by the University of Bahrain’s College of Arts. The event was part of a series of workshops on documentary filmmaking organized by the College throughout the current academic year.

The lecture aimed to familiarize students with the importance of music in cinematic storytelling, establishing it as one of the fundamental techniques in any visual artistic work.

The dialogue was moderated by Nader Irshad Ameeruddin, a Radio Producer at the University of Bahrain.
