Academic from UOB Presents Innovative Enzymatic Solutions for Waste Conversion at International Conference
Dr. Maysoon Nedham Awad, Assistant Professor of Environmental Biotechnology in the Department of Biology at the College of Science, University of Bahrain, participated as a keynote speaker at the 2nd International Conference on Biomass Valorization for Sustainable Development.
The conference, organized by the University of M’Hamed BouGara Boumerdès under the auspices of the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, was held from December 3 to 4, 2025.
Dr. Awad’s scientific contribution centered on a lecture titled “The Role of Bacterial Enzymes in Transforming Agricultural and Industrial Waste into Sustainable Products.” During her presentation, she showcased a series of innovative mechanisms and applications drawn from her published research, conducted over recent years in the laboratories of the University of Bahrain.
The conference concluded with several recommendations, including calls to enhance joint research projects for improved biomass conversion efficiency, foster collaboration between academia and industry, and integrate clean technological solutions into national and regional sustainable development strategies.
