UOB Explores Skills for Drafting Commercial Arbitration Awards

A workshop titled “Skills for Drafting Commercial Arbitration Awards” was held at the University of Bahrain’s College of Law on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

Lawyer Dr. Hassan Ali Radhi, Founding Partner of Hassan Radhi & Associates, reviewed the essential elements of an arbitration award and proper legal drafting techniques. These techniques include clarity, precision, logical sequencing, and professional language. He also addressed methods for avoiding common errors, aiming to equip trainees with the ability to prepare comprehensive arbitration awards. Furthermore, he touched upon skills for analyzing commercial disputes and highlighted prominent international best practices in the field of commercial arbitration.

The workshop aimed to enhance the professionalism of arbitrators, enabling them to draft and issue robust, methodologically sound decisions. This ensures the award’s correctness and legal integrity, thereby raising the overall quality of the commercial arbitration process. Proper drafting reflects the arbitration panel’s neutrality, independence, and authority.

The event was attended by academic staff members from the College of Law and a number of graduate students. It was moderated byDr. Eman Majed Al Burshaid, Assistant Professor in the Private Law Department at the University of Bahrain’s College of Law.
