The University of Bahrain team achieved 186th place globally in the international “Hack The Box” competition, ranking among the top 17% of participating teams in the global hackathon. The event brought together more than 8,000 students representing 1,128 universities from around the world. Students from the College of Information Technology successfully tackled advanced technical challenges, ranging from decrypting complex software systems to securing communication protocols across various platforms. The team overcame these challenges through the knowledge and practical expertise gained during their academic studies. The team was supervised by Dr. Abdullah Khalifa Al Dosari, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science.

This participation took place within the Universities CTF competition, which extended over three consecutive days and was organized by the globally recognized cybersecurity platform Hack The Box. Approximately 30 cybersecurity students from the University of Bahrain participated both on-site and remotely, marking the first participation of its kind for the Kingdom of Bahrain in this international competition.

This achievement reflects the University of Bahrain’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, directly contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by equipping students with advanced digital and problem-solving skills, and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through fostering technological innovation, cybersecurity competencies, and readiness for future digital infrastructures.
