Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain, affirmed that the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence represents a pioneering humanitarian initiative that contributes to building human relationships based on mutual respect, thereby supporting the foundations of coexistence among different peoples and societies.

Dr. Al-Ansari noted that this initiative, launched by the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, reflects the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, may God protect and preserve him. This vision is founded on consolidating the values of rapprochement, dialogue, respect, and positive, effective communication as a cornerstone for progress, sustainable development, and the strengthening of international cooperation.

He pointed out that the Royal vision and the initiatives stemming from it have received international recognition and engagement, as demonstrated by the designation of 28 January as the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence, reflecting the global community’s confidence in Bahrain’s experience in promoting these values.

Dr. Al-Ansari further explained that an approach based on understanding and diplomatic engagement constitutes a fundamental pillar in strengthening relations among nations and entrenching shared human values. He emphasized that the directives of the Government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect him, work to reinforce these values across various areas of government action, as a deeply rooted approach within Bahraini society.

In conclusion, Dr. Al-Ansari affirmed that the University of Bahrain remains committed to promoting awareness of tolerance and coexistence through its academic curricula and outcomes. In this context, he highlighted the development of the University’s academic programs and a number of its courses in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to integrate the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 16 related to peace, justice, and strong institutions. He also revealed that more than 30 specialized courses in sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals have been incorporated into the University’s study plans at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
