University of Bahrain Faculty Explore Flipped Classroom Model
Faculty members at the University of Bahrain were introduced to the flipped classroom model as a modern educational approach during a workshop titled “The Role of Flipped Classrooms in Improving Learning Outcomes in Higher Education.” The event was organized by the Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership (UTEL) on Tuesday (November 14, 2025).
The flipped classroom concept is based on the principle of reversing traditional roles by exchanging in-class instructional time with self-directed learning activities, representing an innovative teaching methodology.
The workshop covered the fundamental principles of this approach and showcased various models for its implementation in higher education, with the goal of enhancing student engagement and improving the overall quality of learning.
Dr. Basma Taqi Al-Najar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the College of Science, led the workshop.
