University of Bahrain’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing Earns International Accreditation from ACEN

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the University of Bahrain has been awarded international academic accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), becoming the first nursing program in the Kingdom of Bahrain to receive international accreditation. This achievement adds to the university’s series of successes in advancing health education, represented by the College of Health and Sport Sciences.

Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain, expressed his pride in this achievement, stating that it reflects the university’s strong commitment to implementing the highest international standards in education and its dedication to preparing qualified national professionals capable of competing and excelling globally.

He added that the accreditation is a clear indicator of the quality and efficiency of the program’s learning outcomes and their ability to meet the needs of the healthcare sector locally and internationally.

He further emphasized that the University will continue to support its academic programs and colleges in securing additional international accreditations, thereby strengthening its reputation as a leading higher education institution, contributing to national community service, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

For her part, Dr. Leena Mohammed Khunji, Dean of the College of Health and Sport Sciences and Director of the WHO Collaborating Center for Nursing Development in the Eastern Mediterranean Region, explained that this accreditation represents the culmination of sustained institutional efforts in developing curricula, learning environments, clinical training, and quality assurance of learning outcomes.

She noted that the accreditation will directly benefit students and graduates by enhancing their competitive advantage, strengthening academic recognition of their qualifications, and opening wider opportunities for postgraduate studies at prestigious international universities, as well as employment opportunities at regional and international levels. It also reinforces their commitment to global standards in nursing practice, patient safety, and professional ethics.

This accreditation further strengthens the University of Bahrain’s position in health education and underscores its role in preparing qualified national talents who actively contribute to the development and advancement of the healthcare system in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
