The National Initiative for Agricultural Development launched New Tree-Planting Site at University of Bahrain as part of Forever Green Campaign

Building on ongoing efforts to achieve the goals of the National Tree-Planting Campaign and promote environmental sustainability in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and with generous support and active community sponsorship from the Yousif and Aysha Almoayyed Foundation (YAAF) for charitable works, the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) has inaugurated a new tree-planting project at the University of Bahrain. This project is part of a series of environmental initiatives aimed at expanding green spaces.

The launch was attended by H.E. Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development; Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain; vice presidents and several university officials; Ms. Mashael Farouk Al Moayyed, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Yousif and Aysha Almoayyed Foundation; Ms. May Almoayed, Vice Chairperson of the Board; Ms. Noora Feleyfel, Board Member; Ms. Jawaher Fareed Almoayed, Board Member; Mr. Ashish Shetty, Foundation Director; as well as a number of officials, academics, and individuals with an interest in environmental affairs.

This project builds on previous tree-planting initiatives carried out at the University of Bahrain under the national “Dumti Khadra” campaign. It forms part of an ongoing plan to create green spaces that enhance the quality of life on campus, provide a more balanced and sustainable environment for students and university staff, and strengthen community partnerships in supporting projects with a lasting impact.

A total of 105 trees and shrubs well-suited to the local environment were planted as part of the project. These plants were chosen for their ability to adapt to local climatic conditions, provide shade, improve air quality, reduce carbon emissions, and add aesthetic and cultural value to the university’s facilities.

This project reflects the Yousif and Aysha Almoayyed for charitable works’ commitment to supporting sustainable environmental initiatives and promoting social responsibility, in line with its vision of community service and sustainable development.
