University of Bahrain Highlights Role of Emotional Intelligence in Higher Education

The University of Bahrain (UOB) staff participated in a workshop titled “Empowering Development: Understanding the Art of Feedback in Higher Education,” organized by the Uit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership (UTEL) at the university on Thursday (January 8, 2026).

The workshop highlighted the role of empathy and emotional intelligence in higher education. It introduced participants, both academics and administrators, to methods for applying active listening strategies and constructive feedback to improve advising processes, manage challenges with empathy and respect, foster inclusive and supportive learning environments, and encourage development in the educational process and engagement in higher education.

The workshop was presented by Dr. Hawra Al-Sheikh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture and Interior Design at the College of Engineering, UOB.
