University of Bahrain Introduces Faculty to Metacognitive Strategies

Academics at the University of Bahrain participated in a workshop titled “Empowering Readers Through Metacognitive Strategies: From Classrooms to Comprehension,” held on Tuesday (December 9, 2025). It was organized by the Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership (UTEL) at the university.

Faculty members were introduced to methods of employing metacognitive strategies, enabling them to guide learners in transitioning into self-regulated, reflective readers who actively contribute to meaning-making and deepen their understanding of texts.

The workshop focused on evidence-based practical approaches to enhancing reading comprehension and critical thinking, while maintaining learner autonomy.

The workshop was presented by Preeti Jaiswal, Instructor at the English Language Center, University of Bahrain.
