Bahraini Ambassador Meets University of Bahrain Students Training at CERN in Geneva

His Excellency Ambassador Abdulla Abdullatif Abdulla, Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations in Geneva, met with a group of Bahraini students participating in a training programme at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland.

The meeting, which included students from the University of Bahrain and was attended by Mr. Martin Gastal, CERN Adviser for the Middle East and North Africa, reflected the Permanent Representative’s commitment to following up on the welfare of Bahraini students abroad, reviewing the progress of their training programme and research projects, and ensuring their well-being amid the exceptional circumstances facing the region.

The training programme is part of the scientific cooperation between the University of Bahrain and CERN, providing students with the opportunity to contribute to advanced research projects within the Muon Detector experiment across a range of disciplines.

The participating students and their research projects include:

  • Noor Mohammed Faqeehi (College of Science): Developing GPU-based software for data reconstruction.
  • Ahmed Abdulrahman Al-Hamad (College of Engineering): Designing a high-speed electronic system for a timing detector.
  • Ibrahim Adel Al-Saleh (College of Engineering): Designing a mechanical structure for a timing detector.
  • Ehsan Ali Al-Hawaj (College of Engineering): Conducting safety and risk assessment for power systems.
  • Shaikha Abdullah Al Nuaimi (College of Information Technology): Developing software for a content management system.
  • Wiam Wafiq Ajour (College of Information Technology): Designing a high-speed electronic system for a detector.
