Minister of Education Chairs University of Bahrain Board of Trustees Meeting
The Board of Trustees of the University of Bahrain held its third regular meeting of 2026 under the chairmanship of His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board, with the participation of board members and invited attendees via videoconference.
At the beginning of the meeting, H.E. the Minister of Education highlighted the University’s outstanding global achievement in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026, commending the Board of Trustees, the University’s leadership, and its faculty and staff for their significant contributions to securing this distinguished accomplishment.
The Board reviewed the latest updates on the University’s infrastructure projects and examined the agreements, memoranda of understanding, and cooperation initiatives signed during the second quarter of 2026 with local, regional, and international institutions. Members also discussed the measures taken to activate these partnerships and maximize their benefits across academic, research, and professional training activities.
The Board further considered a proposal to establish a College of Design at the University and reviewed the initiatives and procedures undertaken to further strengthen the University’s position in international rankings.
In addition, the Board received a comprehensive report on the University’s cooperation and partnership projects concluded between November 2025 and June 2026 with governmental, academic, and industrial organizations in the Kingdom of Bahrain and abroad. These collaborations have contributed to advancing scientific research, enhancing academic programs, strengthening practical training opportunities, and expanding initiatives in innovation, sustainability, and community engagement.
