A New Milestone in Our Journey Towards a Sustainable Campus

The President of the University of Bahrain, Dr. Fuad Mohamed Alansari, inspected today the first mock-up of the solar PV carpark shading structure, marking an important milestone in the progress of the University’s landmark 46.2 MW Solar PV Project, developed in collaboration with the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA).

One of Bahrain’s largest renewable energy initiatives within the education sector, the project will feature 64,606 solar panels across carpark and ground-mounted installations, covering approximately 280,000 m² and incorporating advanced solar PV technologies, as it is expected to generate around 70 GWh of clean energy annually.

The project will significantly enhance the University’s energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and support the Kingdom of Bahrain’s efforts to expand renewable energy and advance towards carbon neutrality by 2060.
