University of Bahrain Holds Workshop for Faculty on Supporting Students of Determination

The University of Bahrain launched the first of its training sessions for faculty members on Wednesday (16 September 2026), as part of a comprehensive training program to support students of determination. The workshop was titled “Inclusive Education Begins with Understanding: Students with Special Needs, Policies, and Reasonable Accommodations at the University of Bahrain,” and was organized by the Unit for Teaching Excellence and Leadership (UTEL), in cooperation with the University’s Committee for the Support of Students of Determination and Special Needs.

The workshop aimed to introduce faculty members who teach students of determination to the concept of inclusion in the university context; to build a shared understanding of the diverse categories of students, to familiarize participants with the University’s approved policy framework and the reasonable accommodations available to support equal access to learning in higher education.

This introductory workshop will be followed by a series of specialized workshops, all designed to clarify the fundamental concepts and principles of inclusive education in higher education and to identify the diverse categories and characteristics of the various cases among the University’s students of determination. The workshop also provides a comprehensive description of the University of Bahrain’s policy for supporting these students, so that participants understand their role and responsibility in fostering an inclusive educational environment.

The workshop was presented by Dr. Wafa Jasim Al-Wafi, Head of the Private Law Department at the University of Bahrain’s College of Law, and Dr. Samar Habib Mukaled, Assistant Professor at the University’s Mohammed Jaber Al Ansari College for Teachers.
