University of Bahrain Marks International Translation Day with Seminar

The University of Bahrain, in partnership with the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, organized a seminar titled “Celebrating International Translation Day” on Tuesday, 29 September 2026, with the participation of academics, translators, students, and other interested attendees.

The seminar featured a panel discussion titled “Translation as a Passage Across Cultures and a Means of Building Shared Human Understanding.” The panel included Dr. Ghada Ahmed Jassim and Dr. Amr Nour El-Din from the Department of English Language and Literature; Dr. Ehab Mohammed Abu Sitta from the Department of Arabic Language and Islamic Studies, College of Arts; and Bahraini writer and translator Mr. Mohammed Al Mubarak. The session was moderated by Dr. Lama Khaled Al-Mahadin from the Department of English Language and Literature.

The seminar addressed several themes, including translation and cultural exchange, literary and cultural translation, the history of translation, Arabic translation, notable translations and dictionaries, as well as the University of Bahrain’s efforts in the field of translation.

The event reflects the University’s commitment to promoting cultural dialogue and highlighting the role of translation in building bridges of communication between peoples and civilizations.
