University of Bahrain Launches Professional Certificate in Diagnostic Ultrasonography
The University of Bahrain launched its Professional Certificate in Diagnostic Ultrasonography on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, at the College of Health and Sports Sciences (CHSS) Al-Maarif Hall in Sulmaniya, organized by the Continuing Education and Community Development Department.
The Professional Certificate in Diagnostic Ultrasonography is a specialized academic and professional program delivered in a blended learning format in two main phases. The first phase covers theory, laboratory applications, and simulator-based training at the CHSS campus in Sulmaniya, while the second involves intensive hands-on clinical training in hospitals under the supervision of specialist physicians and radiology consultants.
The program offers two specialization tracks: Abdominal Ultrasonography and OB/GYN Ultrasonography.
The program responds to the growing demand in the health sector for practitioners with advanced and precise ultrasound imaging skills. It helps raise the quality of diagnostic services, strengthen patient safety, and provide hospitals and medical centers with professionals trained in diagnostic and clinical practice, in line with the highest professional standards and ethics.
The program is aimed at health practitioners who hold a relevant academic qualification with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0 out of 4.0, have at least one year of clinical experience, and hold a valid professional license from the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) or the competent authority. Applicants must also hold a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, along with the required health certificates.
The opening session featured the participation of Dr. Leena Mohammed Khonji, Dean of the College of Health and Sport Sciences (CHSS), and Dr. Seham Mohamed, Head of the Department of Allied Health Sciences. Dr. Esameldeen Mohamed, Assistant Professor in the department, then delivered a comprehensive presentation outlining the program.
The session concluded with a Q&A with participants and a field visit to the laboratory, where attendees viewed the facilities of the Radiology Technology Lab.
