Ministry of Health Organizes “Together from the Start” Awareness Program in Collaboration with the University of Bahrain

The Ministry of Health has organized the “Together from the Start” awareness program in collaboration with the University of Bahrain, as part of the work of the Task Force for Studying New Program Focusing on Youth Health and in coordination with the University’s Public Health Committee. The program targeted university students preparing for marriage and those who are newly married, aiming to raise their awareness of the foundations of a healthy and stable family life.

The program opened with a workshop titled “Foundations of a Healthy Marriage,” which explored concepts and practices that support a healthy married life. The workshop covered three themes: the concept of a healthy marriage, presented by Dr. Marwa Al Mulla from the University of Bahrain’s College of Arts; maternal and child health, presented by Dr. Alaa Haji from the Primary Healthcare Centers; and reproductive health, presented by Ms. Sanaa Al Baker from the Ministry of Health’s Health Promotion Directorate.

The second workshop, “The Journey of Fatherhood and Motherhood,” also comprised three themes: self-care and healthy lifestyles, presented by Mr. Ali Al Aradi of the Health Promotion Directorate at the Ministry of Health; premarital screening, presented by Dr. Hanan Hussain of the Primary Healthcare Centers; and positive parenting skills and the healthy relationship between mother and father, presented by Ms. Fatima Al Aal of the Ministry of Social Development.

The most recent workshop addressed the topic of “Family Stability and Sustainable Well-being.” It included a session on “Marital Conflict Management Skills,” presented by Dr. Sami Mohamed Al-Mahjoob, Head of the Department of Psychology at the University, and a session on “Strategies for Reducing Emotional Regret,” presented by Dr. Mohammed Lakhdar Roubi, Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Bahrain.

The program reflects the collaboration between the University of Bahrain and the Ministry of Health to promote youth health and develop young people’s knowledge and skills relating to marriage, parenthood and family stability. It supports their health and well-being and contributes to building healthy, stable families.
