University of Bahrain Holds Food Health Day, Encouraging Informed Food Choices
Students took an active part in Food Health Day at the University of Bahrain. The awareness event, “Read the Label, Choose Wisely”, was organized by the university’s Public Health Committee on Thursday, 29 October 2026. It aimed to promote healthy eating habits, show members of the university community how to read food labels, and highlight the importance of using nutrition information to choose healthier products.
Specialists offered guidance and practical tips on checking the ingredients of food products and understanding their nutritional value, including sugar, salt, and fat content. They also explained serving sizes and calories, helping consumers make better-informed food decisions.
The event stressed the importance of putting nutritional knowledge into daily practice: adopting balanced eating habits, cutting back on products high in sugar, saturated fat, and sodium, and choosing healthier options that support general health and help prevent diet-related diseases.
The initiative is part of the Public Health Committee’s efforts to raise health awareness among students and university staff and to encourage healthier lifestyles, strengthening the university’s role in providing a campus environment that supports health and well-being.
