Undergraduate Degree (First Period) Application and External Transfer Period Announcement and Instructions

For the Academic Year 2022-2023

First: Admission Applications Submission Period

The period for submitting applications for admission to undergraduate programs (first period) will be from Sunday 8 May to Sunday 29 May 2022, in the following order:

Second: Important Instructions

  1. Students expected to graduate with a cumulative average of 65% and above will be allowed to submit an application for admission to undergraduate degrees (first period), provided that they are accepted into the university with a cumulative average of 70% or above, while students with disabilities will be accepted with a cumulative average that is not less than 66.6%.
  2. Applicants through the Information and eGovernment Authority website:
  • During the application period, it is possible to change the programs selected through the website itself.
  • Data of (high school scores and English language level) of students of government schools applying through the Information and eGovernment Authority website (Bahrain.bh) will be transferred after the announcement of results from the Ministry of Education to the Admission and Alumni Affairs Department directly.
  1. Applicants through the Student Information Administration (SIS) website:
  2. Kindly attach the following required documents:
  • A colored photograph.
  • A copy of a valid passport or proof of renewal in case of expiry. Non-Bahraini students residing in Bahrain are kindly requested to attach a copy of a valid residence permit or proof of the renewal procedure.
  • A valid ID card or proof of renewal in case of expiry.
  • Please attach the required documents as follows:
    • Graduates: Secondary school graduation certificate or its equivalent from the school, transcript, graduation statement, and a transcript certified by the Ministry of Education.
    • Those who are expected to graduate in the second semester 2021/2022 and applicants through SIS: Transcripts for (5) semesters, and the (SIS) system will be opened later to update the required papers and documents after graduation. The application period will open for students who have achieved a cumulative average of 65% or above. Note that the minimum average for admission to the University of Bahrain is (70% and above).
  • Application fee of (10 dinars Non-refundable).
  • A medical fitness examination certificate from one of the accredited centers or hospitals Governmental or Private in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the certificate will be requested upon the announcement of the admission results according to a certain mechanism that will be set afterwards.
  1. The applicant may modify his/her information – during the admission period or modify the information and upload the required information after announcing and validating the final results – on the student information system (sis.uob.edu.bh) through the provided links below:
  • Update application information and preferences.

  1. Credit hour fees for newly admitted students will be as follows:
  • Bahraini students (subsidized fees) 8 Bahraini dinars per credit hour.
  • Non-Bahraini and sponsored students 80 BD per credit hour.

Note: Submission of the application does not mean that it will be automatically accepted. Therefore, you will be informed of whether the application has been accepted or not, through the website (sis.uob.edu.bh) and by e-mail, after the end of the application period and reviewing applications by the Admissions and Alumni Affairs Department according to the University’s rules and regulations. Note that the announcement of the admission results for undergraduate degrees (first period) will be on July 5, 2022.

  1. External transfer

Admission requirements:

A student may be transferred from another university to the University of Bahrain if the following conditions are met:

  • The other university must be recognized by the concerned authorities in the Kingdom.
  • To submit a newly approved academic record to the Deanship, with the required documents, including a certificate of good conduct and behavior from the university from which he was transferred, and a recommendation from two of his professors at that university.
  • His secondary school certificate must be qualified for admission to the program he wishes to transfer to.
  • His studies must be regular at the university he is transferring from (Full System).
  • He must have successfully passed (30) credit hours or its equivalent at the university from which he is transferred, and his cumulative average should not be less than (2.33) out of (4.0) (C+ or its equivalent in other academic evaluation systems). This requirement does not apply to requests for transfer to second term programs.
  • The relevant academic department council must approve the transfer request, after reviewing his academic record, the scientific content of each course he passed, and specifying the courses that he is exempted from studying.
  • He must not have been disciplinary suspended from any the university, and if the transfer is to the programs of the first period, it is also stipulated that he should not have been academically suspended from an academic program at any university.
  • When submitting the transfer request, he should not have dropped out from the university from which he was transferred for more than (16) weeks. This requirement does not apply to requests for transfer to second term programs.
  • The student must take a minimum of (50%) of the hours required for graduation.

Required Documents:

  1. A transcript from the university from which the student is transferred.
  2. A copy of the secondary school transcript or its equivalent, along with the graduation statement, certified and approved by the competent authorities.
  3. The content of the courses to be equivalated at the University of Bahrain, attested and approved by the university from which the student is transferred.
  4. Two academic recommendations from two professors who taught the student at the university he is transferring from.
  5. Evidence of the student’s success in the tests conducted by the academic department (if any).
  6. A certificate or statement of the student’s good conduct and behavior delivered by the university he is transferring from.
  7. A colored photograph.
  8. A copy of a valid passport or proof of renewal in case of expiry. For non-Bahraini students residing in Bahrain, please attach a copy of a valid residence permit or proof of the renewal procedure.
  9. A valid ID card or proof of renewal in case of expiry.
  10. Application fee of 10 Bahraini dinars.
  11. A medical fitness examination certificate from one of the accredited centers or hospitals Governmental or Private in the Kingdom of Bahrain, the certificate will be requested upon the announcement of the admission results according to a certain mechanism that will be set afterwards.
