Students at the College of Business Administration at the University of Bahrain explored key concepts and real-world experiences in Islamic banking during an interactive seminar led by Mr. Sattam Sulaiman Algosaibi, CEO of Khaleeji Bank.

Titled “Common Concepts and Live Experiences in Islamic Banking,” the seminar was organized by the Islamic Banking Department at the college on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, and moderated by Dr. Abdulhameed Darwish, Assistant Professor in the department.

During the session, Mr. Algosaibi shared insights from his professional journey, including his early career, expertise in Islamic banking, and growth in the sector. He highlighted the core differences between deposits and investments in conventional and Islamic banks, while clarifying essential concepts related to Islamic banking products. Algosaibi illustrated practical examples of common Islamic banking transactions—such as Murabaha, Musawamah, Ijara, and Modaraba—explaining their implementation mechanisms and benefits.

Mr. Algosaibi highlighted the ongoing efforts of Islamic banks to evolve and adapt to changing market expectations. He explained how these institutions are increasingly prioritizing innovation, developing and refining financial products and services to better meet customers’ practical needs. His remarks underscored the sector’s commitment to delivering value through Shari’ah-compliant solutions that are both ethically sound and financially viable.

The seminar provided practical tips for students preparing to enter the banking sector. It covered key topics such as job interview preparation, career ambition strategies, and guidance for those pursuing postgraduate studies in this field.
