UOB Celebrates the Glorious National Day Virtually

On the occasion of the National Day, the University of Bahrain (UOB) is holding a celebration with a variety of activities under the slogan: (Vision 2030: Challenges, Opportunities and Achievements) on Tuesday (15 December 2020) at twelve o'clock in the afternoon via the online platform Microsoft Teams.

The Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al-Maliki, stated that: “UOB has always held National Day celebrations in a distinctive way, and this year as the country celebrates the forty-ninth national day of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the 21st anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa accession to the throne, the university continues to hold this annual national celebration, but in an innovative way.

Furthermore, he said that the celebration programme shall include several diverse and innovative events, which will be held remotely to be in line with the national precautionary measures to combat Covid-19.

Also, Dr. Al-Maliki indicated that celebration programme will start with a speech by the President of UOB, Dr. Riyad Yousif Hamzah, and another speech by the Dean, to be followed by various National Day competitions, including cultural competitions, the National Day Knights Contest, and other competitions for people with disabilities, where participants answer through Kahoot application.

Moreover, she added that the Deanship will hold comprehensive arts competitions for several arts, including a competition for the most beautiful painting under the title: (Vision 2030 Challenges, Opportunities and Achievements) for three categories: (children, amateurs and professionals), a visual arts competition (Arabic calligraphy - traditional and digital drawing), musical and solo recital competitions, and theatrical competitions of acting a theatrical scene. Also, a competition will be held under the title: (We celebrate from home), which aims to highlight the beauty of celebrating the National Day from home in light of the current conditions of the pandemic.

Also, Dean Al-Maliki referred to holding an art exhibition and various events, including: conveying congratulations on the occasion of the National Day, musical performances, and national films screenings.

The President of UOB praises the support of the "Feena Khair" Campaign in Granting 2500 laptops for UOB students

The President of the University of Bahrain (UOB), Prof. Riyad Yousif Hamzah, praised the generous initiative by the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF) within the "Feena Khair" campaign, which donated 2500 laptops to UOB students as part of the support for students whose families are financially incapable of buying additional devices.

The University President extended his sincere thanks to His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, National Security Adviser and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of RHF, for this generous humanitarian initiative within the contributions of the national campaign "Feena Khair" which His Highness launched to support the national efforts to address Corona pandemic, and which reflect the concern of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of the Kingdom of Bahrain, for his children, students in particular, and for everyone who resides on the land of the Kingdom of Bahrain in general.

Furthermore, Prof. Hamzah stated that “This generous initiative by His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa is one part of the series of good initiatives of His Highness for his brothers, students of UOB, as His Highness previously supported students with several initiatives over the past years, and this initiative comes today to respond to the guidelines of the competent authorities to combat the Corona virus by switching to electronic education, so that education continues effectively in an atmosphere of safety to preserve the health of citizens and residents alike.

Also, he further stated that "The "Feena Khair "campaign, launched by His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, shows the bright face of the humanitarian community in Bahrain, and that confidence in His Highness has led to this unprecedented success of the campaign."

Moreover, the President of UOB said that the "Feena Khair" campaign has proven its success on more than one level including economic, social, and cultural levels, as it embodied the cohesion of Bahrain's people and residents, and their solidarity at the level of institutions and at the civil level, which has always been one of the most important supporters of humanitarian charitable campaigns.”

Pointing out that UOB always seeks what is good and in the interest of students in the short and long term and communicates with agencies and institutions to create partnerships with them to support students in all aspects, including supporting students financially to continue their studies so that they have equal opportunities with their colleagues to access information resources and have the capabilities they need in order to easily graduate from university.

Also, the President of UOB praised the pivotal role that Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed, Secretary-General of RHF and Chair of the Coordination Committee of the existing efforts in the national campaign "Feena Khair", as well as the team that worked diligently to make this campaign a success.
