The President of the University of Bahrain, Professor Dr. Riyad Yousif Hamzah, discussed proposed ideas for student activities for the 2016/2017 academic year, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and fostering a positive environment. He affirmed that the university’s cooperation with the Student Council will continue and grow, given the significant role the council plays within the student body at the University of Bahrain.
This came during his meeting with members of the 14th session of the Student Council, held yesterday (Thursday) at his office on the university’s Sakhir campus. At the start of the meeting, President Hamzah congratulated the students on the new academic year and reviewed the council’s planned programs and activities for the year. He expressed his full support for their initiatives and engaged in a meaningful dialogue with the council members regarding academic matters and their needs, to help them fulfill their responsibilities in a manner befitting the University of Bahrain and the council’s evolving experience through past terms.
Dr. Hamzah emphasized the importance of elevating student engagement and the services provided by the council to the student body. He urged council members to collaborate with all students, instill a sense of responsibility and positivity, work to overcome challenges, and coordinate with the Deanship of Student Affairs to fulfill the council’s mission in alignment with the university’s vision and its academic, educational, cultural, and social objectives.
The Student Council is composed of representatives from academic colleges, heads of student societies, and representatives of student clubs. These members are elected through a direct voting system among club presidents, as outlined in a dedicated regulation titled “The Bylaws for the Establishment and Organization of the Student Council at the University of Bahrain.”
