Prof. Hamza Congratulates University Team on Honorable Achievements at the Garden Show

President of the University of Bahrain, Prof. Riyad Yousif Hamzah, praised the university team that participated in the Bahrain International Garden Show, which was held last February under the generous patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with continued support from Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of the King of Bahrain and Chairwoman of the Advisory Council of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development, may God protect her. The university received commendation for its active role in the success of the exhibition, particularly for designing the main walkway connecting the two principal halls, and for presenting a distinguished display that reflected this year’s exhibition theme, “Miniature Gardens.”
Prof. Hamzah expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the university team, led by Dean of the College of Science, Dr. Hashim Ahmed Al-Sayed, for their scientific, artistic, and aesthetic contributions that stood out at the exhibition. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and the harmony among members from different academic backgrounds, who combined their expertise to create such projects—highlighting the unity and strength of the university community and its consistent ability to lead in initiatives it undertakes.
The president was briefed on the team’s past participations, including the scientific papers and public engagement that earned the university the trust of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development to take on the design of this year’s main theme at the international exhibition. Prof. Hamzah affirmed the university’s commitment to developing such collaborative experiences and supporting all efforts aimed at advancing academic work and building effective academic and research teams to achieve the best outcomes.
He also noted that the university’s scientific capabilities, resources, and academic expertise enable it to introduce more academic programs in fields relevant to Bahrain’s development projects. He added that there is much potential for developing new specializations relevant to the Kingdom, such as food security, agricultural engineering, and tissue culture—fields that open new avenues for the local job market. He stressed the importance of interdisciplinary openness, pointing out that scientific disciplines today are no longer isolated but rather interdependent, benefiting from one another’s strengths and developments.
