Third Edition of “French Day at the University of Bahrain” Discusses Access to Justice

The University of Bahrain, in cooperation with the French Embassy and Alliance Française – Bahrain, organized the third edition of “French Day at the University of Bahrain” on Monday, 28 September 2026, dedicated to law and justice. The event presented a Franco-Bahraini dialogue titled “Access to Justice,” held alongside France’s “Law Night” (La Nuit du Droit), and marked the launch of a series of joint editions as part of the “French Day At UOB ” among the three partners during the 2026–2027 academic year.

The event was attended by Dr. Fuad Mohammed Al-Ansari, President of the University of Bahrain, and Mr. Éric Giraud-Telme, Ambassador of the French Republic to the Kingdom of Bahrain, who delivered opening speeches.

The program featured two panel discussions that brought together a group of Bahraini and French legal experts. The first, titled “Enhancing Access to Justice in Bahrain: Towards Effective, Inclusive and Fair Justice for All,” featured Dr. Reyadh Mohamed Seyadi, Director of the Judicial and Legal Studies Institute and former judge in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and Ms. Ashleigh Packer, Senior Programme Officer in the Protection Division of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Bahrain.

The second panel, titled “Access to Justice in Bahrain: Technology, Trust and an Attractive Business Environment,” featured Mrs. Rosiane Houngbo-Monteverde, Paris Bar lawyer, former Chair of the Legal Affairs Committee of the Assembly of French Citizens Abroad and France–Gulf strategy consultant; Dr. Hanan Mohamed Almawla, Associate Professor of Private Law at the University of Bahrain; and Dr. Amel Kamel Abdallah, Associate Professor of Commercial Law at the University.

Both panels were moderated by Ms. Agathe Fremin du Sartel, French Regional Advisor for Judicial Cooperation.
